Spiritual Mediumship
When someone that you know dies, it can be incredibly difficult to the people they leave behind. There always seems to be just one more thing you want to say or a question you always wanted to ask but didn't. So often people reach out for a way to communicate with those who have passed on and one way to do that is through mediumship. Mediumship refers to a person who communicates with those who are deceased so that they can pass on messages to the person who has passed on or to the people who still remain. They contact them through the spirit world in order to bring peace to the family that is still on earth.
Mediumship is not scientific nor can it be defined in exact science. It is something that very few people can do, but those who are true mediums can do it well. It is true to say that all mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums. Mediumship is based on spiritualism where the medium or human channel or instrument as they are sometimes referred to, can reach the spirit personality for several different purposes. They can verify information to the living friends and family, they may want to channel forth certain types of energies or they can be used simply to identify that someone who has passed on is still among those who are living.
The one thing that is needed is the cooperating effort between the person who is living and the person who is in spirit. Many skeptics claim that mediumship cannot possibly exist because there is no science behind it. That is unfortunately the thought of many lay people as well. But what one cannot prove does not mean that it simply isn't so. Mediums, or channels as they are sometimes called, are people who are most of the time born with the gift of being able to communicate with spirits which at times cannot be defined.
No one knows why some are chosen for mediumship whereas others are not. However, the one factor that continually comes up is having the open mind to be able to channel spirits. Meaning, one must want to receive messages from spirits and at the same time, have the proper energy in which to do so.
The Two Types of Mediumship
There are both mental and physical mediums. A mental medium is one who relates information through communication such as thought transference or mental telepathy. It is done strictly through the consciousness of the medium with the answer being communicated verbally which means they must literally tell you what the spirit is showing or telling them. Often, the spirit comes to them in a form of a picture allowing the medium to see certain objects, colors or words. The "picture" that the medium gets may not always be clear or even meaningful but when told to the person physically in front of them, it will start to make sense.
Mental mediumship can happen in other forms as well such as clairvoyance which is clear seeing meaning that they can see absolutely everything the spirit is relating to them. Other forms include
clear hearing (clairaudiant), clear smell or clear sensing (clairsentiant)
which means that they may not get a picture at all. Instead they may hear words, smell a certain smell or feel something that isn't actually there.
Physical Mediumship comes in many different forms as well but it is done with almost no consciousness and with more physical responses. It can show itself in levitation, automatic art or writing or seeing an aura of something or someone that isn't there. Psychic art for instance is a physical mediumship in which the medium is spurred on to draw something that they have never seen or drawn before. The spirit guides their hand and without almost any choice at all a picture emerges without any doing of their own.
How to Develop Your Own Mediumship
Mediumship isn't necessarily a learned practice, although there are many mediumship course workshops that will allow you to work on channeling spirits. It is something that is simply there; a person who is so open to having spirits move through them that they almost will it to happen. That being said, with hard work, study and patience, mediumship can be developed. It is not an instant process however for most people; it is brought about only with time and the willingness to learn.
Mediumship should be developed with groups known as spirit circles. Again, you can find many mediumship course workshops that offer spirit circles that are taught under the guidance of a qualified and experienced medium. This circle offers the energy that is needed to bring the spirits to the surface so to speak. Without enough people who truly share your interests of reaching beyond the energy won't be there and therefore will not attract the spirits that you need. Mediumship course workshops offer different types of mediumship circles so you should decide ahead of time which type of mediumship you would most like to develop. It should either be for mental mediumship or physical mediumship since each offer a very specific type of energy.
Lastly, be prepared that this will not happen in one weekend course. It could take months or even years to develop the skills to become a spiritual psychic medium. For many true mediums it is something they are naturally born with but there are others who can learn it if the energy and open mind are there and ready.
